MBA programs which include modules or electives in entrepreneurship offer valuable tools and knowledge for MBA students wishing to start their own business, preparing them for the realities of building a business. MBA electives in entrepreneurship but also the entire degree in general provide real-world, hands-on learning on what it’s like to actually start a scalable company. Specialized programs in Entrepreneurship are thus not the only means for budding entrepreneurs.

The MBA equips participants with the necessary management skills for any entrepreneur: strategic analysis and negotiations skills, numerical and analytical skills, communication and interpersonal skills, plus insights into current managerial issues in geopolitics, macroeconomics and governance.

Indeed, to succeed in venture creation, it is not enough just to discover brilliant new opportunities, enterprising individuals also need to work on those ideas to transform them into reality. The MBA provides participants with all the necessary tools for a holistic approach to building a successful start-up, as the essence of entrepreneurial behavior is identifying business opportunities and putting them into practice.

In order to attract the attention of external resource stakeholders, entrepreneurs need to demonstrate their capacity to reach critical milestones of the new venture creation process. One of the milestones of any new start-up is proof-of-concept. By carrying out an MBA, entrepreneurs also benefit from an empowering and extensive alumni network.

Phil Eyre is the MBA Program Director with responsibility for onsite and offsite programs, including full-time and part-time MBA programs in Grenoble, London, Moscow and Georgia at Grenoble Graduate School of Business (GGSB), the international school of Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM).

Phil is also a professor adopting a multidisciplinary approach and using the case method extensively. His classes confront students with strategic business issues from legal, political and economic perspectives. Over the years, Phil has been a visiting professor for institutions at graduate and at undergraduate level in the USA, UK, Singapore, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Serbia. He is regularly invited to lecture in the UK and US on European integration issues. Before focusing on academic activity he gained professional experience in service and manufacturing companies in Britain, France and Italy in the IT, office equipment and tourist sectors.
